Welcome

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to this blog. I hope you will find it helpful as we proceed through the construction at 675 Second Street East. The blog, like any construction project, is a work in progress and won't be done until the project comes to an end. I plan to update it regularly.

Katherine Fulton and I are the owners of the house. She is a consultant for the Monitor Deloitte and president of the Monitor Institute which works with major foundations and non-profits, helping them formulate social change strategies around global health, the environment, proverty, and the like. I am a cook, sometime food blogger and artist.

We are so grateful to a team of people who have been helping us in this pre-construction process.
Robert Baumann, our creative and astute architect
Kevin Kearney, the lighting guy with Robert's office
Marty Johnson, my thought partner on the interior design
Christie Jones, colorist supreme
Geraldine Whitman, helpmate in getting us moved into our rental house
Jon Curry, general contractor

And we are so grateful to Jon and you all who will be working on this project over the next months.

The "decisions" that I've listed here are, of course, provisional. I am open to your thoughts and opinions and hope that you will tell me when you think I'm misguided or wrong and that you will offer suggestions as to how my decisions can be improved.

Here's a copy of the site plan. I hope it will help those of you who are not actually working on the site understand the complexity and the scope of the project better. Check the next entry for a floor plan of the Main House. The Landscaping entry now includes a landscape plan for the back yard deck area.
